Levy to undergo hip surgery, could miss season

As if the winless Detroit Lions didn't have enough problems already.

Coach Jim Caldwell said today that linebacker DeAndre Levy will undergo hip surgery and could miss the rest of the season.

Levy strained a muscle in his hip in an Aug. 24 practice and missed nearly seven weeks with the injury. He made his season debut in last weekend's 42-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but aggravated the injury in the first half and left after just 17 snaps.

Josh Bynes, who started the first four games in Levy's place, will start Sunday against the Chicago Bears (1 p.
