For 10 NFL seasons, Barry Sanders lived for the roar of the crowd.

It fueled him when he played his home games at the Pontiac Silverdome, and motivated him when the Detroit Lions were on the road.

"You fed off of them tons," Sanders said Thursday at the opening of the MotorCity Casino sports book.

It's for that reason that Sanders said he can't imagine playing a game in a stadium virtually devoid of fans, like some sports leagues are doing now, even though he supports the decision in the face of the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe.
