Here's how Detroit Lions' Matt Patricia coached from sideline despite foot injury

Bad foot or not, Matt Patricia is coaching the Detroit Lions’ exhibition opener tonight from the sideline.

Patricia, who underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon this summer and has had limited mobility all of camp, rode a golf cart out to the field before the start of Thursday’s game against the New England Patriots.

He used his knee scooter to stand on the sideline for the national anthem, then retreated to a post behind the Lions bench, where he spent the first quarter leaning on a makeshift stand made of mats and a training table behind a table of Gatorade coolers.
