It has been seven days since the Detroit Lions released long time starting safety Glover Quin. He had not missed a game in his six years in the Motor City and now the Lions will need to find a way to make up the lost snaps.
The team has three options:
They could promote from within. Safety Tracy Walker showed a lot of promise in his rookie season and his speed and athletic ability could make him a great back end safety. He definitely has the coverage range to get the job done, but his football instincts may be lacking as he was a very raw product coming out of college.
