The Free Press sports staff won six national awards this week at the annual Associated Press Sports Editors winter conference in St. Petersburg, Fla., considered the Super Bowl for sports news organizations.
The Free Press competes in the largest circulation and online readership division.
Free Press columnists Mitch Albom and Jeff Seidel, Lions writer Dave Birkett and photographer Kirthmon F. Dozier earned individual honors for work done in 2019.
Albom earned Top 10 honors in column writing. Judges select columnists based on five submitted entries.
