The Detroit Lions are getting an early start on the free-agent process at one of their biggest positions of need.
The Lions are scheduled to host tight end Dwayne Allen on a free-agent visit Thursday, ESPN reported.
Allen, who turned 29 last month, caught 13 passes in 29 games over the last two seasons with the New England Patriots. He was released Monday in a cost-cutting move and reportedly has drawn interest from four teams: the Lions, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens.
According to ESPN, Allen is visiting the Bills on Wednesday.
