The Detroit Lions would be in the playoffs as the NFC’s second wildcard team if the postseason started today.

It doesn’t, of course, and it’s far too early for playoff talk. But when the Lions (2-1-1) return to practice this week, they’ll do so as a legitimate contender just behind the Green Bay Packers (4-1) in the NFC North standings.
