If there’s anyone that knows what it’s like for a quarterback to play for Joe Lombardi’s system, it’s Drew Brees.
Brees and Lombardi spent seven seasons together in New Orleans from 2007-13, and during that span no quarterback threw for more touchdowns than Brees. He also led the league in passing yards and completions in that span, which included a 2009 Super Bowl title.
Since the NFC North matched up with Brees’ NFC South last season the quarterback ended up watching tape of the Lions’ offense while scouting opposing defenses.
“Last year I saw a ton of Detroit tape,” Brees said while in Ann Arbor, Mich.
