Detroit Lions to wear throwback uniforms on Thanksgiving with new, awesome patch

Inadvertently or not, the Detroit Lions revealed the uniforms they will be sporting for Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day classic game against the Green Bay Packers. In a post on Twitter, the Lions announced that every team playing on Thanksgiving will be wearing this patch to honor the late legend John Madden.

Note: If you’re having trouble seeing the Madden silhouette, it’s a bit easier to see with the image rotated like this so that he’s facing straight to the right:

Madden, who used to regularly call Thanksgiving Day games for both CBS and FOX, passed away in December of 2021 at the age of 85.
