Detroit Lions take Oklahoma State LB Malcolm Rodriguez in sixth round of NFL draft

The Detroit Lions continued adding help for defense with the first of their two sixth-round picks Saturday, taking Oklahoma State linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez with at No. 188 overall.

The Lions traded their original sixth-round pick, No. 181, to the Philadelphia Eagles and added a seventh-round choice (No. 237) in the deal.

Rodriguez, 5 feet 11 and 232 pounds, was an undersized linebacker but highly-productive linebacker for the Cowboys. He tied for sixth in the country with 76 solo tackles last season, had 15 for loss and forced four fumbles.

The Lions have spent four of their first six draft picks on defensive players.
