Detroit Lions reportedly 'not overly optimistic' Matthew Stafford will play vs. Titans

Matthew Stafford did not suffer any broken ribs in last week's loss to the Green Bay Packers, but the Detroit Lions quarterback still could miss Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN reported Tuesday that Stafford suffered a rib cartilage injury when he was hit hard and twisted awkwardly on a 6-yard scramble in Sunday's fourth quarter.

Stafford stayed in for one play, a Kerryon Johnson touchdown run, but was in obvious pain when he went to the sideline and sat out the Lions' final offensive series.

Interim Lions coach Darrell Bevell said Monday that Stafford will be re-evaluated at the end of the week to determine his playing status.
