PHOENIX — With Matthew Stafford's big contract an impediment to signing a top-tier veteran backup, Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn said Monday the team continues to explore other options to land its No. 2 quarterback for 2019.

"You guys understand like our salary situation at the quarterback position, it’s up there, so there’s only so much you can do in terms of signing a top-end, top-end backup just with the salary that comes with that," Quinn said.
