Detroit Lions' Jamie Collins: Opt-outs 'still going to be a problem' after deadline

The NFL's opt-out deadline hit Thursday with another five players choosing to sit out the 2020 season.

In all, 66 players have opted out since the start of training camp, more than the NBA and Major League Baseball combined. And while provisions are in place allowing for future opt-outs if a family member become seriously ill because of COVID-19, new Detroit Lions linebacker Jamie Collins said he wishes players had more time to make their decisions.

"It’s hard cause you got to live day-to-day," Collins said in a video conference shortly before the deadline. "It’s a day-to-day thing with this situation that we’re living in.
