Detroit Lions hire Steve Oliver as offensive quality control coach

Per the Detroit Lions website, the team has hired Steve Oliver as an offensive quality coach. The news was first reported by Justin Rogers of the Detroit News.

Oliver played offensive line for the University of San Diego from 2011 to 2015, where he crossed paths with Lions current offensive line coach Hank Fraley—who was his coach during the 2012 season.

After his playing career was over, Oliver joined the University of Idaho coaching staff in 2016 as an offensive assistant working with the offensive line. After two years in that role, Oliver took a position as an assistant coach (offensive line) at Montana State-Northern during the 2018 spring season, before returning to UI in the fall.
