Free Press sports writer Carlos Monarrez grades the Detroit Lions after selecting Utah defensive tackle John Penisini with the No. 197 overall pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL draft:

Grade: C.
The reason: The Lions waited until their second-to-last pick to address an important need at defensive tackle and added Penisini, a 6-1, 318-pound nose tackle who likely will compete for a job as a backup during an uncertain NFL offseason. Penisini was a junior college transfer who became a second-team All-Pac-12 player his final two seasons at Utah.
