Detroit Lions flip social media pessimism by picking Hendon Hooker in NFL draft

Just when you thought the Detroit Lions might be winding down for the night, they sent a metaphorical shot of espresso into NFL Twitter.

The Lions were extremely active throughout Day 2 of the NFL draft, first trading up, then trading down twice before finally settling with pick No. 63, and once they finally decided to pick they did not disappoint.

Detroit selected Tennessee breakout star quarterback Hendon Hooker with the fifth pick of the third round, finally ending the long wait for the gunslinger out of Knoxville. Hooker was talked about as a potential first round pick, but ultimately dropped to the third round, largely over concerns of a torn ACL that he suffered while playing for Tennessee.
