Detroit Lions charities donates to assist Flint water crisis

The Detroit Lions charities donated an undisclosed amount of money last week to aid with the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, team spokesman Ben Manges confirmed to ESPN.com on Monday.

The Lions charitable arm gave the money to the United Way specifically "to help trucks transporting cases of water," Manges said.

Manges said he was not aware of any individual Lions players or coaches offering assistance or volunteering during the crisis.

The drinking water in Flint has toxic levels of lead contamination and has forced the city's residents to use bottled water for drinking, cooking and bathing.
