Detroit Lions becomes 2nd NFL team officially eliminated for postseason contention

The Detroit Lions joined some ugly company on Thursday afternoon after dropping their Thanksgiving Day Classic against the Chicago Bears. With the loss, their fifth straight and eighth in the last nine, the Lions now join the winless Cincinnati Bengals as the first two teams officially eliminated from 2020 playoff contention.

This will now be the team’s third consecutive season without a playoff appearance, and the first time they’ve been eliminated from playoffs in November since their Thanksgiving loss to the New England Patriots in 2010—on their way to a 6-10 season.
