Detroit Lions assistant who played MAC football 'devastated' season has been canceled

Brayden Coombs played wide receiver for Miami (Ohio) in the Mid-American Conference and used his playing career there as a springboard to coach in the NFL.

Now in his first season as Detroit Lions special teams coordinator, Coombs said Saturday he was saddened by the news the MAC is canceling its football season in 2020.

"It’s devastating," Coombs said. "My time at Miami, to this day, is some of the best years of my life. Lifelong relationships and friendships and all that started with the football program. So I’m really hurt for those guys.
