After being passed over for special-teams coordinator, Detroit Lions assistant coach Devin Fitzsimmons is leaving for a job at Vanderbilt.

Fitzsimmons served as the Lions' de facto special-teams coordinator for the final eight games of the 2018 season, after the team fired Joe Marciano.

He was considered a leading candidate to replace Marciano, though the Lions hired John Bonamego instead.
