As Detroit Lions show grit and spirit, the Green Bay Packers show them how to win (again)

The ball left his foot with 3 seconds left in the game, sailing high over Ford Field, end over end, until it split the uprights, ending the Detroit Lions' season Sunday in a depressingly familiar way.

Not so much because of a last-second field goal from Green Bay’s Mason Crosby, but because the Lions led again, competed again, teased the home crowd again.

When the ball landed in the netting and the clock expired, and the Lions' season was finally, mercifully, over, several players took a knee, or a seat on the turf, exhausted, dispirited, lifting their helmets off and staring.
