But the NFL is a grind, and the difference between winning and losing is so small, especially on the road. Letdowns happen. And Detroit (1-2) will begin work today trying to avoid one next week in Dallas against the Cowboys (1-2).

The return of the running game: Detroit mowed down New England for 159 rushing yards Sunday night, a team high since 2013. Kerryon Johnson erupted for 101 yards, the club's first 100-yard back since Thanksgiving of that year.
