If the Detroit Lions hold onto the No. 3 pick in April’s draft, their choices seem obvious.

Ohio State defensive end Chase Young is a run-your-card-to-the-podium pick if he’s there. He’s the best defensive player in the draft, one of the best pass-rush prospects to come out of college in a decade and exactly the type of game-changing talent the Lions need for their defense.

If he’s not, and if the Lions don’t want to go the Tua Tagovailoa route — and there’s no evidence yet to suggest they do — they’ll be picking from one of three prospects, in all likelihood: Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah, Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown and Clemson hybrid Isaiah Simmons.
