Lions News: Ameer Abdullah Limited In Practice

Detroit Lions running back Ameer Abdullah usually gets plenty of practice reps. That was not the case Tuesday.

The Lions said the rookie wasn't hurt, but didn't say why he was held out for much of practice.

"No reason," Lions head coach Jim Caldwell told MLive.com.

Abdullah's strong preseason has elicited compairsons to Barry Sanders.

"He's quick as a cat," Jets head coach Todd Bowles said after the preseason opener. "He's about as quick as Barry Sanders. I'm not saying he is Barry but he's a good running back."

Despite the strong start, Abdullah is listed behind Theo Riddick on the Lions' depth chart.
