4 Reasons Why The Lions Are Perfect For HBO's Hard Knocks

HBO’s TV show “Hard Knocks” follows an NFL team throughout training camp and the preseason every year, often giving a boost in popularity to the team that volunteers to be featured. Here’s why the Detroit Lions are perfect for the show this year:

4) Joique Bell's story

Bell is from Detroit, played college football at Division II Wayne State in the city while working as a security guard for the Lions, and is heading into his first year as Detroit's featured back. That story would get plenty of play on the show and get plenty of people rooting for him.

3) More Calvin Johnson!!

Calvin Johnson has been quiet off the field throughout his career, and this would give fans the opportunity to get a closer look at one of the league's biggest stars. Plus, we'd get to see him do plenty of ridiculous things in practice like this:

2) Matthew Stafford's make-or-break year

Stafford has had a successful career to this point, but he's been unable to take the next step and become one of the better quarterbacks in the league. Add in the fact that he hasn't won a playoff game in his career, and the pressure is mounting on Stafford to produce this year, which would make for an interesting storyline.

1) How do they replace Ndamukong Suh?

Suh, for better or worse, was the face of the Lions defense for the past five years, but he's now a member of the Miami Dolphins. Detroit traded for nose tackle Haloti Ngata to try and replace him, but there will still be an interesting storyline in seeing who will replace him in the starting lineup and who will take over as the leader of the defense.
