The Morning After: Will Barton shrugs off criticism, embraces being “the fall guy” after Denver Nuggets beat Washington Wizards

WASHINGTON — The Denver Nuggets nabbed a huge road win Friday night, holding off the Wizards 108-100 to move back within a game of the eighth playoff spot in the West.

Here are seven takeaways from the victory:

1. “I’m that guy.” Will Barton was spectacular in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points by going 2-of-3 from the floor (both 3-pointers) and hitting all eight of his free throw attempts. This prompted a question from friend of the program Chris Dempsey about the outside criticism that seems to surround Barton about him holding the ball too much, making suspect decisions and failing to be an efficient player.
