Nuggets’ Malone, Connelly come away empty handed from NBA Awards night dominated by Milwaukee

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — The Denver Nuggets were in the running for a pair of awards at Monday night’s NBA Awards show. But the the evening belonged to Milwaukee.

Denver’s Michael Malone and Tim Connelly were both finalists, but both came home empty handed Monday night in Santa Monica. Malone finished third behind Milwaukee’s Mike Budenholzer and L.A. Clippers’ Doc Rivers for Coach of the Year, while Connelly was second behind Milwaukee’s Jon Horst for Executive of the Year.

A tearful Giannis Antetokounmpo accepted the Most Valuable Player award, beating out Paul George of Oklahoma City and James Harden of Houston.
