As referees left the court following Sunday’s Denver-Washington game, one Nuggets fan berated official James Capers and called him racist, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
Though the game was over, the male fan, who was standing next to the railing as players and officials walked off, was immediately admonished by an arena staffer and later escorted from his seat. He was later seen talking to security beneath the bowels of the Pepsi Center.
No racial slur was used in the incident, according to a Nuggets spokesman, and the team wasn’t expected to make a statement.
