Nikola Jokic fined $25,000 for “using derogatory and offensive language”

On Wednesday, the NBA announced that Nikola Jokic will be fined $25,000 for “using derogatory and offensive language.”

In the lockerroom following the Denver Nuggets’ 108-107 win over the Chicago Bulls, Jokic prefaced a comment about Wendell Carter’s length by saying, “No homo.”

The league has been consistent in their stance on homophobic language, whether those phrases are used by players with malicious intent or not. In 2011, Joakim Noah was fined $50,000 for directing a homophobic slur toward a fan in the stands.
