There was some basic level of assumption that the Nuggets and Christian Braun would get a long-term extension done before Monday’s deadline, but Jake Fischer reported on Saturday that sources are now pessimistic about any new deal.
Fischer added that the Nuggets have indicated they don’t want to pay the luxury tax next season, which would mean some major cost-cutting is coming. He also added that Braun is seeking at least $25 million a year, which is more than justified given some of the other extensions that have been handed out recently.
Braun has proven to be an excellent draft pick for Denver, contributing to the team’s championship run in 2023 as a rookie and improving each season.
