While the rest of the NBA did their best to entice the league’s stars in free agency, the Nuggets went about the business of taking care of their own.

Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray agreed to a 5-year, $170 million max extension late Sunday night, according to a league source, ensuring Denver’s core of Nikola Jokic and Gary Harris remains intact for years to come. The deal will kick in for the 2020-21 season.

Murray, one of the NBA’s rising stars, was one of the gems of the 2016 draft, which also netted the Nuggets guard Malik Beasley and forward Juancho Hernangomez.
