Former Nuggets great Billups, Colorado Gov. Ritter among trio named Regis University trustees

When the annual Porter-Billups Leadership Academy gets underway on the Regis University campus next week, a freshly minted board of trustees will be presiding.

George Washington graduate, and former Denver Nugget and NBA All Star Chauncey Billups joined former Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter and local marketing and food sales industry veteran Jamie Gronowski last month as the newest members elected to serve on the northwest Denver Jesuit school’s board of trustees.

Billups, whose list of basketball accomplishments include being named MVP of the 2004 NBA Finals and seeing his jersey retired by the University of Colorado, joined with longtime Regis men’s basketball coach Lonnie Porter in 2006 to boost Porter’s existing leadership academy at the university.
