It featured a clear-cut #1 overall pick in Markelle Fultz, an exciting pass-first prospect out of UCLA in Lonzo Ball, a defensive and athletic freak in Josh Jackson, and many others who jumped off the page immediately. However, a player who did not garner much coverage was Donovan Mitchell.
A guard out of Louisville, Mitchell never impressed much in college. He spent 2 seasons in a Cardinals uniform, and his freshman year was nothing to write home about. He averaged just 19.1 minutes per game, 7.4 points per game, and he shot just 25.0% from 3-point range. He did show some promise as an athletic two-way star, so Louisville boosted his minutes the next season.
