Paxton Lynch slowly emerged from the pile after succumbing to his second sack in as many series in the third quarter last Saturday. This one was courtesy of Marcus Rush, the 49ers linebacker who strung along Broncos tackle Kyle Roberts before wrestling Lynch to the ground at Denver’s 20-yard line.
As the mob cleared, Lynch jogged over to the sideline and took a seat on the bench next to passing-game coordinator Greg Knapp, who already had his playsheets spread out and a plan formulating in his mind.
“When I went over to the sideline, coach Knapp was talking about speeding up the tempo a little bit and going some no-huddle,” Lynch explained.
