Vic Fangio on Broncos not experiencing COVID-19 wave: “Relieved, but nervous”

The bad news for the Broncos: Outside linebacker Malik Reed, running back Mike Boone and safety P.J. Locke remained on the NFL’s COVID-19/reserve list Wednesday.

“They’re all doing fine, but they’re not posting negative tests yet,” coach Vic Fangio said before practice.

The good news: They have not seen their roster decimated by a wave of positive tests that has seen 103 players league-wide placed on the reserve list.

“You’re relieved, but I’m ready for one of those (support staffers) to walk into my office with the bad news,” Fangio said. “Relieved, but nervous.”

Because Reed, Boone and Locke are vaccinated, they can return to team activities once they test negative on consecutive days.
