Upon Further Review: How Broncos’ pass rush managed to contain Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in win

Baron Browning timed his move perfectly. With under a minute left in the second quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Broncos outside linebacker closed into the pocket and in a split second maneuvered around left tackle Donovan Smith before he strip-sacked quarterback Patrick Mahomes, leading to a fumble recovery by Jonathon Cooper.

There are few times when teams have been able to contain Mahomes, a two-time MVP and Super Bowl champion. In the Broncos’ 24-9 win over the Chiefs on Sunday, they did exactly that by keeping him inside the pocket and staying committed to the pass rush.
