At a rally for Alabama senatorial candidate Luther Strange on Friday, President Donald Trump said the NFL owners should fire “son of a b****” national anthem protesters and that “one owner is gonna do that” and will become “the most popular person in this country.”
“The only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it’s one player, leave the stadium,” Trump told the crowd. “I guarantee things will stop.”
Trump also ridiculed the game’s rules on illegal hits that were installed for player safety, saying referees are “ruining the game” and that players “want to hit.
