While life hasn’t afforded me the time to do a big roster breakdown like I normally do, I’ve been dialing in on the draft as this week approached and wanted to share my take on our roster as it stands. For those of you who’ve read my stuff for years, this is going to feel pretty familiar.
I keep things simple (and completely subjective) using the following rating system:
Unit Rating Key:
1 - Critical Need - lack of talent at starter and depth
2 - Lacking at least one starter
3 - Mediocre need
4 - Solid talent and depth
5 - Elite talent level
Quick and dirty ratings of the roster as it stands today:
Defensive roster status overall:
Defensive Ends 4
Nose Tackles 4
Cornerbacks 5
Safeties 5
Outside Linebackers 4
Inside Linebackers 2
Offensive roster status overall:
Tackles 3
C / G 4
Wide Receivers 5
Tight Ends 4
Quarterbacks 1
Running backs 2
Special Teams:
Kicker 4
Punter 4
Points of interest
- I’d put OLB at 5 if Von had played healthy last season
- ILB has been a sore need for a long time, I think both starters could be upgraded for the record
- Tackle I almost put at a 2 because of the unknown of RT.
