Include Nick Vannett among those who were semi-surprised the Broncos expressed interest and ultimately signed him to be a part of the tight end mix.
“I didn’t really know they needed a tight end,” Vannett said Friday during a media conference call. “It wasn’t one of my teams I was projecting to be with coming out of the combine when I first got the information from my agent. But they made offers and showed they were really interested in me.”
The Broncos added Vannett, 27, on a two-year contract, making him the seventh tight end on the roster.
