Mike Purcell “hungry” to reestablish role on Broncos’ D-line after foot, thumb injuries marred his last two seasons

In October 2020, Mike Purcell finally arrived in the NFL. After being cut 10 times by six different teams, the nose tackle had established himself in Denver and his grind was rewarded with a three-year, $14.8 million extension.

But it’s been tough luck for Purcell ever since.

A few weeks after signing that deal, Purcell sustained a right foot injury and missed the final 10 games. More adversity hit in 2021 when a broken right thumb and COVID kept him out four games.

Now, the former Highlands Ranch High School and Wyoming standout is healthy and “hungry” to reestablish his role on the Broncos’ revamped defensive line.
