Jhabvala: Pat Bowlen will be a Hall of Famer. But he should be one now.

This time it really hurt. Maybe more so than others.

Maybe it was because of who Pat Bowlen lost to in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s selection of two contributor finalists, flashy Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former commissioner Paul Tagliabue. Maybe it was the timing, or simply because the Broncos were again overlooked by the Hall, mere months after they captured their third Super Bowl title.

“I just was disappointed. Incredibly disappointed,” said former Broncos guard and current TV and radio analyst Mark Schlereth. “I’ve heard a lot of people talk about the fact that, well, he’s sick and they should have taken that into consideration and I’m like, ‘No, he should be in on his merit alone.
