The Broncos finally got defensive in the NFL draft.

Denver selected Ohio State defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones with the No. 71 pick in the third round Friday night. It marked the first player the Broncos picked on defense after tight end Noah Fant (No. 20), offensive lineman Dalton Risner (No. 41) and Missouri quarterback Drew Lock (No. 42).

Jones, a 2018 first-team All-Big 10 selection, compiled 114 tackles and 9.5 sacks over three college seasons. He impressed scouts at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 5.12-second 40-yard dash and 31.5-inch vertical jump. His best production arrived last season with 8.
