The Denver Broncos’ uncertain future had a major bombshell dropped on it when Woody Paige released an article discussing a ‘secret meeting’ between John Elway and Mike Shanahan last year.
Paige’s entire report is worth reading for the juicy details, but a number of other local reporters have essentially confirmed the biggest pieces of it. Essentially, Elway and Shanahan met to apparently discuss the possibility of a reunion with Shanahan taking over as the Broncos’ head coach, Gary Kubiak potentially becoming the new offensive coordinator, and Kirk Cousins coming in as the quarterback.
In hindsight, that plan sounds a lot better than what the Broncos have endured in 2018 with Vance Joseph, Bill Musgrave, and Case Keenum.
