Broncos general manager John Elway could have had quarterback Dwayne Haskins to eventually replace Joe Flacco.
But after trading from No. 10 to No. 20 in Thursday night’s NFL draft, Elway opted to take a weapon for Flacco instead of his replacement. Iowa tight end Noah Fant was the Broncos’ choice, arguably the best pass-receiving tight end available.
In the first trade of the night, the Broncos moved from No. 10 to No. 20 in a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Broncos also received the No. 52 overall pick and a 2020 third-round selection.
