Broncos sign DL Henry Melton, waive OL Sam Carlson

The Denver Broncos have signed veteran defensive lineman Henry Melton and waived former CSU star Sam Carlson; the team announced Monday morning.

Melton, a fourth-round pick of the Chicago Bears out of Texas in 2009, has also spent time with the Cowboys and, most recently, the Buccaneers.

Last season, the 6-foot-3, 270-pounder posted 30 tackles, two sacks, two passes defensed and two fumble recoveries. The 30 tackles being the second most of his career. An effective pass rusher during his career from the interior, Melton has a career high of seven sacks.

Carlson, a Colorado native and a 26-gam starter as an offensive lineman at Colorado State, was signed earlier in the month after a string of injuries along the offensive line.
