Broncos S Justin Simmons (ankle) ruled out vs. Colts

Safety Justin Simmons will not play in the Broncos’ Thursday night game at Indianapolis because of an ankle injury he suffered early in Denver’s win over the New York Jets.

Simmons sprained his ankle while celebrating Brandon Marshall‘s strip-sack of Josh McCown in the first quarter, and he left the stadium in a walking boot. X-rays were negative and coach Vance Joseph confirmed the sprain Monday morning.

Simmons did not practice during the team’s short week. In his absence, fellow second-year safety Will Parks will likely take his spot in the secondary.
