Broncos Preview: Pat Shurmur latest coordinator charged with reviving dormant offense

0

Since winning the Super Bowl five years ago, the Broncos have adopted a rent-an-offensive-coordinator approach.

One season and kaput. Or in one example, even less than that.

Mike McCoy was fired after 10 games in 2017, Bill Musgrave not retained after 2018, and Rich Scangarello fired after last season.

Including coach Gary Kubiak in 2016, Pat Shurmur will be the Broncos’ fifth play-caller in as many years.

Different play-callers. Different playbooks. Different terminology. Different roles. And the same results — out of the playoffs and in the bottom half of the NFL in points scored, including 28th last year — the Broncos’ lowest finish since the league expanded to 32 teams in 2002.
