Broncos cut quarterback Paxton Lynch, claim Kevin Hogan on waivers

The Paxton Lynch quarterback experiment in Denver is officially over.

The Broncos cut their former 2016 first-round pick Sunday after the team claimed quarterback Kevin Hogan off the waiver wire from the Redskins..

Hogan played in eight games over the past two seasons in Cleveland with one start. He completed 60-of-101 passes for 621 yards, four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Hogan will now compete for the backup role behind Case Keenum with Chad Kelly after the seventh-rounder leapfrogged Lynch on the depth chart in preseason.

Lynch completes his two-plus seasons in Denver with 792 yards passing, four touchdowns and four interceptions.
