Broncos claim quarterback Kevin Hogan on waivers

The Broncos have claimed quarterback Kevin Hogan off the waiver wire Sunday from the Redskins, a league source confirmed to The Denver Post.

Hogan played in eight games over the past two seasons in Cleveland with one start. He completed 60-of-101 passes for 621 yards, four touchdowns and seven interceptions. Hogan’s addition to the roster puts third-string quarterback Paxton Lynch’s spot in jeopardy after a Chad Kelly leapfrogged the former first-round pick as Denver’s backup in preseason.

Hogan (6-3, 218) was lauded for his football IQ through his 2016 NFL draft evaluations after setting records through 50 games played at Stanford — including team wins (36) and career offensive yardage (10,634).
