MINNEAPOLIS — Over the past five years, teams that led by at least 20 points at halftime had won 99 consecutive games.
The streak was broken Sunday by the Broncos in one of the biggest collapses in team history.
A 20-point halftime lead at U.S. Bank Stadium was squandered by the Broncos, who fell 27-23 to the Minnesota Vikings.
Broncos quarterback Brandon Allen ran 11 yards on fourth-and-1 to the Vikings’ 4 to keep hope alive for Denver in the final seconds. After a Minnesota timeout with 10 seconds remaining Allen threw incomplete on the next play.
